The Best of the Red: Dust Bunny Edition

While doing some recent housekeeping in the back end of this site I uncovered some posts in my archives that many (read: most) of you missed, and I thought they were worthy of having the dust bunnies brushed off them.
I realize that the majority of you are newer readers and/or haven’t known me as long, so here are a few of that damn redhead you’ve likely never read:
- What my small town dentist can teach us about social media
- The internet is one big expo – what is your booth like?
- The high school notebook – social media casualty?
- How I accidentally started #ThankYouThursday
- Social media lessons from water skiing (and vice versa)
- Social media is like plastic baggies
- Facebook, LinkedIN, and Twitter are NOT the Holy Trinity
You can’t see it yet but I’ll be doing some restructuring of the direction of this blog in the near future. Everybody’s blog evolves over time, and this one is no exception. For details, visit my new “About” page.
Enjoy and thanks for reading. Stay tuned.
uwemp releases EXCLUSIVE Seth Godin interview!

A while ago, I wrote a post about a side project I’m involved in called uwemp – you | we | me | empowered — which is an open-source, reader-directed magazine focusing on learning from the journeys of others and redefining journalism as we know it.
Moments ago, we released what I’d been biting my tongue about for a long time — an exclusive, one-on-one video interview with uwemp founder Jordan Wolfe and none other than The Bald One himself, best-selling author/entrepeneur/marketing genius Seth Godin. (He’s also the guy who started this interesting little site called Squidoo, you may have heard of it.)
So, what are you waiting for? Why are you still here? Go watch the exclusive interview with Seth Godin now!
(And while you’re at uwemp, be sure to check out our uwemp/UPIU National Student Journalism Writing Contest. If you’re not studying journalism in college right now, you probably know somebody who does, so share it with them. Thanks!)
All I ask for is a frickin’ rotating chair.

As of the other night, yours truly is now a contributor* to a hilarious site for people who secretly (or-not-so-secretly) hate their jobs, Office Evil.
My first contribution is currently the featured MadLib on the home page. It’s a memo from your boss. He/she saw what you were doing on those social networks on company time and NOT very happy about it. Fill in the blanks to find out exactly why you’re in deep.
*Disclaimer: Potential future employers – Please do not interpret this the wrong way. Though I currently work for myself, anybody can tell you that I’m a workaholic, love what I do, and always go above and beyond. This is only for fun, and came about randomly. Don’t hold expressing my creative juices against me.
